Beijing (Antara Bali) - Nine Indonesian painters are taking part in the fifth Beijing International Art Biennial held at the Chinese National Arts Museum.
Chief of the Indonesian delegation to the expo Hartono said on Saturday that among the nine painters who come from Yogyakarta and Bali are Stefan Buana, Sjah Firmann, Labadiou Piko, Made Gunawan and Uuk Paramahita.
The painters have each submitted four paintings to the event's organizing committee, which will select the best to be displayed at the month-long event, he said.
Indonesia last participated in the biennial event in 2010.
"In the future, we hope we will have our own pavilion to exclusively display the works of our painters at the event," he said.
Nearly 500 works of artists from 85 countries are put on display at the expo, which will last from October 28 to November 22.
The event, themed "Reality and the future", also displays other art works such as statues, installations and videos.
Vice President of the Chinese Art and Literature Federation Yang Chengzhi said art has the power of uniting the world community in a simple language.(*/M038/T007)
