Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali's Association of Hotel and Restaurant Owners (PHRI) supports local government's plan to implement moratorium of new hotel development in the area, PHRI Chairman Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati said here on Tuesday.
"We agree to support the government to stop development of new hotels having potential to disturb local agriculture and culture," Sukawati, who is also the Gianyar district head, said.
He argued the existence of new hotel can also trigger unhealthy competition among entrepreneurs.
"In a more competitive environment, some hotel owners may cheat by releasing fictive booking to attract visitors who need hotel check for reimburse to their office," he took example.
He suggested the Bali government to include his organization in the process of giving permit for new hotel development. He also asked the local government to firmly implement Regional Law Number 16/2009 about Bali's city plan.(IGT/T007)
