Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) has dispatched humanitarian aid and volunteers to help strife-ridden Rohingya refugees in Myanmar, ANTARA learned here on Saturday.
Kalla was present at the Halim Perdana Kusuma airport during the departure of the volunteers and aid, which consists of 500 sanitary packages, 3,000 blankets and 10,000 sarongs.
Meanwhile, in a meeting held last week between Kalla and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the latter expressed hope that Jusuf Kalla achieves success as Indonesia's special envoy to Myanmar for helping resolve the problems of the Rohingya ethnic community.
"I hope Jusuf Kalla, with his extensive experience, can become our special envoy for communicating Indonesia's concern for the humanitarian crisis and prevent the possibility of any misunderstanding on the part of Myanmarese government about our intentions with regard to the Rohingyas," the president said after his meeting with Kalla.
Several Indonesian lawmakers are also visiting Myanmar this week on a humanitarian mission.(IGT)
