Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The government of Indonesia will provide Rp50 million each in compensation to the families of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 victims, according to a minister.
"The compensation from the government is excluding the US$50,000 that the Sukhoi company will give to each of the plane crash victims' families," Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare Agung Laksnono said here on Tuesday.
Agung explained although the Jasa Raharja insurance company would provide compensation only in case of victims of an airplane with regular flight and route, the government had another alternative for the families of the victims.
"Of course, the Jasa Raharja insurance company would only give the compensation to [the families of] the crash victims of a plane with regular flight. But in case of the Sukhoi plane, which was a joy flight, the government has another initiative for the sake of its people," he said.
According to Agung, the compensation from the government to Sukhoi victims' families was owing to its deepest sympathy for them.(IGT)
