Singaraja
(Antara Bali) - Ganesha University of Education in Singaraja, Bali
Province hosts an international symposium on nuclear utilization on
10-12 August, 2017 which is involving academics and practitioners from
various countries.
Presidential Advisory Council member Suharso Manoarfa, here on
Thursday, said the development of nuclear technology in Indonesia is
still on debate.
The symposium is expected to build the same perception and
commitment about nuclear energy use for the advancement of technology
and civilization in the future.
According to Suharso, the utilization of nuclear energy in Indonesia
is currently growing very rapidly, in terms of innovation, equipment as
well as safety and security technology.
Indonesia, he said, as one of the major countries in the world
requires additional energy from various natural sources for the
sustainability of human life and the environment.
Suharso said Indonesia is continuing its efforts to develop nuclear
as a major energy source in the fields of health, agriculture,
environment, and other fields.
"With the consideration of reasonable cost in terms of maintenance
and packaging, nuclear energy is an option, although the investment
requires high cost," he said. (WDY)
