Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Indonesian Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Layout
Ministry/ National Land Agency (BPN) plans to carry out land
certification throughout the country and expects to complete it by 2025.
"There are 178 million hectares of land plots in Indonesia but
only 40 percent of them have been registered and 67 percent of them have
been already certified," special staff of the ministry, Sugeng
Suparwoto, said in a written statement received here.
He noted that his office, working under Minister Sofyan Jalil,
would strive to meet the target by expediting the process of
certification.
Sugeng said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has included the land
certification program in the medium-term national development plan 2015.
The certification process, he disclosed, lagged behind because of a shortage of land surveyors.
"At present, there are only 2,000 land surveyors," he informed.
To overcome the problem, his office has begun registering certified land surveyors drafted from private agencies.
He underlined that the government expected the land certification program to help prevent conflicts in the community. (WDY)
