Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited victims of flash floods in Garut, West Java, Thursday.
He departed for Garut on a Super Puma helicopter owned by the Indonesian Air Force.
He was also scheduled to evaluate the search efforts for missing people, visit disaster mitigation command posts and Dr Slamet Public Hospital, and meet the victims in the Cimacan and Paris villages of Tarogong Kidul Sub-district.
The disaster killed 34 and left 19 others missing.
Garut District Head Rudy Gunawan has declared an emergency following flash floods that hit several villages on Sept. 20.
Presidential spokesman Johan Budi on Sept. 21 told the press that President Jokowi had expressed his condolences to the families of the flood victims and had instructed the relevant ministers, including the social affairs minister and the public works and public housing ministers, to personally visit Garut to help coordinate relief aid and rescue efforts.
