"Without turning a blind eye, we still hear a news report of military-police conflict. In future, it must not recur," the president stated while inaugurating 720 graduates of military and police academies here on Tuesday.
The head of state emphasized that military and police personnel must stay at the forefront to maintain the states security and defense.
"Military and police officers must synergize, coordinate, stand united, and lend mutual help in the best interests of the nation," he affirmed.
Both military and police personnel must set aside "sectoral ego," increase solidity and solidarity, and maintain close cooperation with the people, he stated.
Military and police personnel must be responsive and sensitive and improve professional performance, he noted.
The president said public criticism must be used as an input to improve performance and the quality of military and police institutions as well as to adjust to the strategic environment.
"Perform your duties and services in a professional and procedural way as well as uphold the law, professional code of ethics, and human rights," he said.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Indonesian Military Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo, Army Chief of Staff General Mulyono, Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Ade Supandi, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Agus Supriyatna, National Police Chief General Tito Karnivian, and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo were also present at the inauguration ceremony.(WDY)
