Jakarta (Antara) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo made assurance that the government would maintain fuel prices at the current level until December 2015 and ordered the related authorities to evaluate the possibility of reducing Premium fuel's current price.
"The possibility of reducing the price of Premium fuel needs to be calculated. Whatever the result of the calculation is, it will be announced on Monday (October 5)," he informed journalists while witnessing the departure of trucks carrying 480 tons of rice at the Kelapa Gading-based State Logistics Agency's (Bulog's) warehouse here on Friday.
During a meeting held on Thursday, the head of state had hinted at the possibility of reducing the price of Premium fuel from its current level of Rp7.3 thousand per liter for the regions outside Java and Bali islands and Rp7.4 thousand per liter for all areas in Java and Bali Islands.
"Pertamina (the state-owned oil and gas company) has been recalculating to find out whether the price of Premium fuel can be reduced," he affirmed.
The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has set the subsidized Diesel fuel price at Rp6.9 thousand per liter. (WDY)
