Ambon, Maluku (Antara Bali) - The city administration of Darwin, Australia, and the city administration of Ambon, Maluku province are exploring a cooperation opportunity in various fields such as education, tourism, waste handling and disaster management.
Darwin mayor Katherine Fong Lim here on Friday stated the cooperation will be caried out in the form of a sister city relationship.
"Darwin and Ambon relationship was established 32 years ago. It is carried in the form of education and tourism cooperation," she said.
According to her, the fraternal relationship between the two administrations should continue to be followed up with other forms of cooperation.
Lim said the development of Ambon has increased significantly from time to time.
The existing cooperation is in the form of teacher and student exchange program.
"In the future we will explore a student and teacher exchange program for public schools. It is expected that the exchange program will have a positive impact on the development of education in the two ciities," she said.
Mayor of Ambon, Richard Louhenapessy stated Ambon can learn a lot from Darwin.
"In the field of technology we certainly are left behind from Australia, therefore we must learn such field from this cooperation," he said.
He added that the city administration will prepare a team to learn about waste management and natural disaster mitigation in Darwin. (WDY)
