Makassar, S Sulawesi (Antara Bali) - The Governor of South Sulawesi Syahrul Yasin Limpo inaugurated the ASEAN Mayor Forum (AMF) 2015 in Makassar City of South Sulawesi Province on Tuesday.
President Joko Widodo has earlier been planned to open the event.
"President has contacted me and apologized that he cannot attend to inaugurate the event," the Mayor of Makassar City Mohamad Ramdhan Pomanto said.
Ramdhan hoped the event can achieve its purposes such as improving human resources development and preparing the ASEAN Economic Community 2015.
He said several mayors from ASEAN can conclude investment agreements on the event. Ramdhan also hoped mayors can create regulation to deal with the MEA in December 2015.
Governor Syahrul acts as the keynote speaker, replacing President Joko Widodo.
The event was attended by 38 heads of administration from ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Laos, the Phillipines and China. Additionally, there are 88 heads administration from Indonesian regions. (WDY)
