Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The number of regional head candidates that have registered with the General Elections Commission (KPU) until Thursday afternoon increased to 827, from 810 on Wednesday.
The 827 tickets include 145 incumbents, Chairman of the KPU Husni Kamil Manik stated here, Thursday.
According to the latest data, 12 districts/cities have only one ticket for the regional head elections, while East Bolaang Mongondow District in North Sulawesi has none at all.
The 12 districts/cities each with a single ticket are Asahan in North Sumatra, Serang in Banten, Tasikmalaya in West Java, Surabaya and Blitar in East Java, Purbalingga in Central Java, Pacitan in East Java, South Minahasa in North Sulawesi, Mataram in West Nusa Tenggara, Samarinda in East Kalimantan, Timor Tengah Utara in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), and Pegunungan Arfak in West Papua.
In accordance with KPU's Circular No. 403/2015 issued on July 25, those regions having less than two tickets could implement another round of registration for three days, on August 1-3, 2015.
If any of the 12 regions fail to have at least two tickets, they will have to postpone the implementation of the regional head elections scheduled on December 9, 2015, to February 2017, the second phase of the simultaneous regional head elections (Pilkada). (WDY)
