Jakarta, July 13 (Antara) -- The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation has declared Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali fully operational for both domestic and international flights.
"Both domestic and international flights have been allowed (to depart and arrive at the airport) since yesterday (Sunday, July 12)," the head of the public communications center of the ministry, J. A. Batata, told Antara here on Monday.
However, he pointed out that a few airlines were still not permitting the operation of their flights, especially their international flights, in anticipation of eventualities.
The Ministry of Transportation issued Note to Airmen number 0084/15, following the eruption of Mount Raung at the S0807 E11402 coordinates. It was a notification regarding volcanic ashes and dust contamination at 06:35 UTC, or 13.35 hours Western Indonesia Time, on July 13.
It states that the volcanic ashes spewed by the mount reached heights of 15,000 feet, with winds blowing at 10 knots eastward.
"The volcanic ashes will not affect domestic flight routes," he affirmed.
However, Batata noted that some international flights must avoid pointed such as R592, G578 and B349. (WDY)
