Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Bali's furniture exports in the January-July 2010 period were recorded at US$20 million, a regional trade official said.
"The value of the furniture exports declined 10 percent from US$22.3 million in the same period a year earlier," Head of Exports Section of Bali's Trade and Industry Service, Putu Baginda said here on Thursday.
He said that the decline in the furniture exports of Bali was due to the impact of economic crisis in the consumer countries.
Actually, he said, Bali's handicrafts-men were creative in creating the designs of their export commodities with reachable prices for consumers.
But world economic crisis hit destination countries and stiff competition in Asian countries have caused a decline in Bali's exports of arts and antique furniture products, he said.(*)
