Jakarta (Antara Bali) - A potential additional gas reserve has been found in the Senoro Toili block in Central Sulawesi operated by Joint Operating Body of Pertamina-Medco Tomori Sulawesi (JOB PMTS).
"No report yet, but the government will appreciate if there is indeed additional reserves found in the Senoro block," Upstream Oil and Gas Director of the energy and mineral resources ministry Naryanto Wagimin said here on Monday.
The government expressed appreciation for the company but said it has not received report of the additional reserves
Earlier, president of PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk Lukman Mahfoedz said his company had found potential additional gas reserves in the block.
The additional reserve is estimated to reach a trillion cubic feet based on the result of drilling of exploration wells in the area of Grupa.
The drilling cost an investment of around US$70 million, Lukman said.
It is not yet decided whether the gas from the additional reserve would be fed to the liquefied natural plant in Senoro or to the state power utility PT PLN.
Starting early October, 2014 to last until March 2015, PMTS has channeling gas to the LNG plant of PT Donggi Senoro LNG (DSLNG) in Luwuk, Central Sulawesi.
The peak production of gas from the Senoro Toili gas field is predicted to reach 250 MMSCFD in mid 2015.
In addition from Senoro, the DSLNG plant will also have gas supply from Matindok, which is operated by PT Pertamina EP around 85 MMSCFD.
The first LNG shipment from the Donggi Senoro LNG plant is expected to take place in mid 2015.
DSLNG operator has signed agreements with three buyers to export LNG in 13 years .
The three buyers are Chubu Electric Power Inc. of Japan to which exports would be 1 million trons per year, Kyushu Electric Power Co Inc. also of Japan 300,000 tons per year and Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) 700,000 tons per year. (WDY)
