Denpasar (Antara) -The Ngurah Rai airport of Denpasar, Bali, recorded a 1.35 percent increase in departures in international flights in August over the previous month.
There were 2,258 flights with 401,885 passengers leaving Bali for various cities in other countries in August up from 2,228 flights in July, 2014, the provincial office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said.
Almost all of the passengers were foreign tourists returning home after spending their holidays in Bali, head of the provincial BPS Panusunan Siregar said here on Thursday.
Panusunan said the number of passengers also increased , up 6.76 percent from 376,445 in July.
He noted the number of foreign tourists to Bali has increased to 2.42 million in the first 8 months of this year or up 15.52 percent on year
In August alone the number of visitors totaled 336,763 , up 8.91 percent from the same months in 2013, but down 6.73 percent from July, Panasunan said.
He said departures also increased in domestic flights, up 13.15 percent to 3,484 flights in August from 3,079 flights in July .
The number of passengers to Jakarta rose 31.44 percent to 457,898 in August from 348,361 passengers in July. (WDY)
