Solo, Central Java (Antara Bali) - Presidential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo again called on the people here on Sunday to be patient and wait for the official announcement of the results of the recent presidential election.
"Just be patient and wait for the KPU announcement," he said upon arrival at his home town in Solo, Central Java.
He assured that the presidential election had gone well, smoothly, peacefully and fairly.
According to quick vote counts by several survey institutes the Jokowi-JK pair won the election but some other pollsters had declared their rival, the Prabowo-Hatta duo, as the winner.
Jokowi said he believed the results would not be different from the quick counts so far but "please be patient and wait for the announcement from the KPU (General Election Commission)."
"The elections in West and East Java have also gone 100 percent well and the results would not be different," he said.
Jokowi said what is important now is that situation in the grass root has been back to normalcy with people conducting their daily activities as before such as going to schools, to offices, factories and the fields.
Regarding his arrival in Solo he said that he would only meet with his family members and take a rest following the election activities.
"I just want to meet with my family members and take a rest," he said.
His mother, Sujiatmi, meanwhile said that Jokowi returned home to take a rest after working hard during the election period with his running mate, Jusuf Kalla.
"He has met me and is now taking a rest," she said.
A number of Indonesian citizens living in Washington, the United States, meanwhile have come to Solo to see Jokowi's house in Sumber, Banjarsari.
Andar Manik (70), a Jakartan who lives in Washington, said he and his family came to Solo to see where Jokowi has so far lived.
"I am proud to be able to meet with Jokowi's wife Iriana and mother Sujiatmi in Solo," he said.
He said he and his family had deliberately returned home to Jakarta just to cast votes and prove that Jokowi has really made changes while being a Jakarta governor.
"Jakarta under Jokowi has become cleaner and changed to be better like Tanah Abang. Jokowi is humble, honest and hard working," he said. (WDY)
