Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Jakarta composite index (JCI) slipped 0.03 percent at the
opening trade on Thursday to follow regional trend.
The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange fell 1.47 points to
4,891.68 points with index of 45 most liquid stocks down 0.05 percent to
828.96 points.
"Asian markets weakened on negative external sentiment with
unexpected fall in US house sales," Samuel Sekuritas analyst Tiesha
Narandha Putri said.
US house sales shrank 14.5 percent in March from the previous month
and the performance of its manufacturing industry declined in April.
Meanwhile, profit taking is likely after significant strengthening
in the prices of mining and plantation shares, he added.
Regional markets such as Hang Seng posted a 0.03 percent increase in
index to 22,516.43 points with Nikkei index shrinking 0.12 percent to
14,528.52 points and that of Straits Times gaining 0.42 percent to
3,271.65 points. (WDY)
