Spokesperson for Bali Zoo Emma Kristiana Chandra said here on Wednesday that the white tiger cub is the eighth generation of female white tiger Kartini (10 years) and male Bengala tiger Buntung (9.5 years).
The white tiger cub, named O'ne, was born last week under normal confinement conditions and weighs 1.8 kilograms.
Today, the tiger cub weighs 2.9 kilograms and is 60 centimenters long.
"The baby is healthy and growing well. He is being fed his mother's milk. The mother has been placed in a control cage so she can receive intensive care from a vet," Chandra said.
While she is lactating, the mother tiger's daily diet will be enhanced for more nutrition, with the addition of vitamins and an extra kilogram of chicken meat.
"The zoo is very attentive to the animals and has been making efforts to meet the requirements of attending to the animals' welfare," Chandra stated, adding that the birth of the Bengala tiger was proof of the zoo's commitment to preserving the endangered species. (DWA)
