Jakarta (Antara Bali) - US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Wendy R. Sherman, believes Indonesia is safe from being affected by an economic crisis like in 1998 due to its exuberant growth.
"I am sure Indonesia will not be trapped into an economic crisis like in 1998 because its condition is much better now, marked by its exuberant economy," said Wendy in a discussion titled "U.S. Foreign Policy in Asia" here on Tuesday.
According to him, Indonesia has learned well from its experience passing through the 1998 economic crisis.
"Indonesia has transformed into a country with a very strong and exuberant economic growth ever since," said Wendy.
"I see Indonesia has implemented many economic and financial policies appropriate to support growth," he added. (*/DWA)
