Denpasar (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Agriculture Minister, Suswono, will grant an award to the Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, for developing agricultural commodities through the usage of organic fertilizers.
"The award will be granted by the Minister on November 28 at the Ministry of Agriculture building in Jakarta," said Ida Bagus Wisnuardana, Head of Department of Food Crops, on Monday.
He also said that the Agriculture Minister will grant the same award to two other regional heads in Indonesia, who are keen on increasing the usage of organic fertilizers.
According to him, these regional heads are the Governor of Central Java and the Governor of West Sumatra
Wisnuardana added that the local government of Bali has been providing subsidised organic fertilisers (as much as 13,333 tonnes) for farmers in Bali, in an effort to maintain 26,000 hectares of fertilised land.
"Subsidised organic fertilisers are sold to the farmers for Rp200 per kilogram, whereas the actual price of unsubsidised organic fertilisers range between Rp1,000 and Rp1,200 per kilogram," he explained.(*/DWA)
