Solo (Antara Bali) - Radya Pustaka museum, the Indonesia's oldest museum situated in Solo, Central Java, will be renovated at the cost of Rp6 billion by the Ministry of Education and Culture during 2012, said Surakarta city spokesperson Boedi Soeharto here on Saturday.
He also acknowledged that the funds were sanctioned, which would enable the renovation to begin soon.
Boedi explained that the renovation of the oldest museum in the country has been discussed with the Ministry of Education and Culture's cultural heritage preservation directorate.
"We discussed the renovation on Friday and the funds will probably be disbursed by the first week of July 2012," Boedi said, adding that the funds would be used to detail the engineering design and the physical renovation of the museum.
The Radya Pustaka museum was opened on October 28, 1890 by Kanjeng Adipati Sosroningrat IV, ¿Pepatih Dalem, during the reign of Pakubuwono Pakubuwono IX and X.(IGT)
