Ambon (Antara Bali) - The eastern Indonesian province of Maluku sets an example for the country in building diversity and cooperation among religious communities, Governor Karel Albert Ralahalu said here on Friday night.
"Maluku is now the perfect representative of Indonesia, in terms of diversity and fraternity among religious communities across the country," Ralahalu said at the closing ceremony of the National Qoran Reading Competition (MTQ 2012).
Governor Ralahalu also acknowledged that Ambon city being named to host the 24th National MTQ 2012 was a great blessing for the people of Maluku.
"The participants of the MTQ from 32 provinces also confessed that they were deeply impressed by the hospitality of the Ambon community, which made them more comfortable," Ralahalu said.
During his speech, the governor extended his sincere gratitude to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who opened the event on June 8, and to Vice President Boediono, who closed it on Friday night.(*/DWA/IGT)
