Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Chief of the National Police General Tito Karnavian has bestowed Bhayangkara Utama medals of merit upon seven cabinet ministers in recognition of their contributions to the police on Wednesday.
"It (Bhayangkara Utama) is the highest award in the National Police. We bestow the medals of merit upon you for your great contributions to the National Police in performing its duties," he stated at the Police College (STIK) here.
The seven ministers are Finance Minister, Sri Mulyani, Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister, Asman Abnur, Minister/State Secretary, Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Anung, Transportation Minister, Budi Sumadi, Public Works and People's Housing Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono, and Health Minister, Nila Moeloek.
The National Police chief presented the awards to the ministers after securing a seal of approval from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
In addition to the seven ministers, Karnavian also conferred awards on chiefs of the Malaysia police, chief of the Philippine police, chief of the Australian police, and chief of the Singapore police for their intense cooperation, including in handling terrorism.
The conferment ceremony was attended by vice chief of the National Police, Commissioner General Syafrudin, Sumadi, Moeloek, Abnur, and Anung.
Mulyani, Hadimuljono, and Pratikno, did not show up. (WDY)
