Beijing (Antara Bali) - The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has sent 13 aircraft to fly back Chinese tourists from the resort island of Bali after the Ngurah Rai Airport resumed operations on Friday.
China Southern Airlines sent two aircraft from Guangzhou and Shenzhen and China Eastern Airlines sent four aircraft from Beijing and Shanghai on Wednesday night (Nov 29), while other domestic airlines sent seven planes on Thursday night (Nov 30) to Bali.
Six aircraft from the Chinese government-owned airlines have flown back 2,700 Chinese tourists from Bali.
Seven planes from private-run airlines have flown back more than one thousand tourists from Bali, Xinhua quoted CAAC as saying on Friday.
Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali was closed on Monday (Nov 27) after Mount Agung spewed volcanic ash up to three thousand meters into the sky.
Indonesia's second-busiest airport resumed operations on Wednesday evening (Nov 29) after the 3,142-meter-high volcano showed signs of declining activity.
China is the biggest contributor of foreign tourists to Indonesia. More than 1.5 million Chinese tourists visited Indonesia last year.
The Indonesian Tourism Ministry has set a target of attracting 2.5 million Chinese tourists in 2017. (WDY)
