Negara (Antara Bali) - Police on guard at the exit of Gilimanuk Port, Jembrana District, Bali, have foiled the smuggling of live coral reefs from Java Island.

"The coral reefs, packed in plastic wrap containing water and put in two large cardboard boxes, were transported via inter-city inter-provincial bus," according to Commissioner Nyoman Subawa, the sector police chief of Gilimanuk coastal area, on Tuesday.

Police seized the coral reefs as per Law No. 16 of 1992 on Animal Quarantine, Fish and Plants.

As many as 145 packs of coral reefs were stored in large cardboard boxes, based on calculations carried out in cooperation with the Work Area Fish Quarantine Gilimanuk and KSDA. (WDY)
