Batam, Riau Islands (Antara Bali) - The National Narcotics Board (BNN) has identified 11 countries as the suppliers of drugs through 72 international networks to Indonesia.
"Some 11 countries have supplied drugs to Indonesia," BNN Chief Commissioner General Budi Waseso stated here on Friday.
He noted that drug syndicates had been involved in the supply of drugs from China, Africa, and Latin America to Indonesia.
"They all send drugs to Indonesia. Moreover, many sides remain calm. However, if only a small amount of drugs is smuggled to Australia, then it will lodge a protest and accuse Indonesia of supplying drugs to the country," he said.
Budi has urged all sides to work together to combat the widespread circulation of drugs in Indonesia.
"The Indonesian military chief has agreed to sack any of his men involved in a drug syndicate. This is an extraordinary commitment," he emphasized.
He noted that the rampant circulation of drugs is inseparable from the involvement of irresponsible personnel from various related agencies in drug syndicates.
They have indeed become a target of drug networks in Indonesia to ensure that their business runs smoothly, he stated.
"Without the involvement of irresponsible personnel, this will not likely happen. Hence, we need the commitment of all concerned agencies to combat drug syndicates," he added. (WDY)
