Surabaya, E Java (Antara Bali) - Indonesia's Marine Corps' Amphibious Reconnaissance Battalion held a joint helicopter operation insertion exercise with the US Army's Special Force Group in Pulau Merah coast, Pesanggaran, Banyuwangi, East Java, on Saturday.
"The heli operation insertion exercise is an exercise that combines several materials, namely fast rope as an infiltration means and STABO (the stabilized body extraction harness) as an exfiltration means," the commander of the exercise task force, Lt. Col. Rivelson Saragih said in a press statement received here on Sunday.
The exercise code-named "Balance Lantern Iron 16-2444" involved four Marine Corps amphibious reconnaissance teams and a Heli Bell 412 unit of Squadron 400 Air Wing -1 of the Naval Aviation with pilot Capt. V Oktomiawan and co-pilot First Lt. Aris Heri.
"The exercise was aimed at increasing the professionalism and readiness of the Marine Corps Amphibious Reconnaissance force as the Indonesian Navy special force on land, sea or air," he said. (WDY)
