Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) held a meeting with Setara Institute here on Tuesday to discuss human rights issues.
The meeting, which began at 10:15 a.m. local time, was opened by Wantimpres member Sudarto Danusubroto.
Setara Institute's members who attended at the meeting were Hendardi, Bonar Tigor Naipospos, Despen Ompusunggu, Aslim Situmorang, and Ahmad Fanani Rosyidi.
The families of the victims of human rights violations such as Royati Dareini, Arief Priyadi, Maria Karina Sumarsih, and Paian Siahaan were also present during the meeting.
Danusubroto remarked in his opening address that Wantimpres had held several meetings with the National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas Ham).
"I hope this generation does not collect any historical debts. History can be straightened out; we all know we can straighten it out," he noted.
According to Danusubroto, a nation that knows its identity is one that recognizes the good and bad in the past, which should not be hidden. (WDY)
