Lhokseumawe, Aceh (Antara Bali) -- The local administration will provide religious and vocational education to the Rohingya refugees in the district during the fasting month at the Vocational Training Center of North Aceh, Aceh province.
Chief of Public Relations of North Aceh Amir Hamzah said here on Monday that the refugees will follow religious lectures and take part in vocational training.
Hamzah added that they will be relocated from Kuala Cangkoi in Lapang sub-district to the Vocational Training Center of North Aceh in Kuta Makmur sub-district before the fasting month commences.
"The refugees will get religious education and other vocational training at the new shelter. Religious education will be imparted through lectures, recitation of the Al Quran and other activities," the public relations chief of the district affirmed.
The administration will also offer educational training such as developing reading and writing skills to improve their working ability for after the completion of the training program.
During their leisure time, the refugees can participate in useful activities that can be advantageous in the future for them.
A more organized management will guide the refugees at the new shelter in North Aceh, while the Rohingya Refugees Taskforce and other parties will cooperate to manage their education there.
Last Saturday, Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa urged Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes) in Mojokerto, East Java, to provide assistance for the Rohingya orphans in Aceh.
The minister noted that there were 231 Rohingya orphans who were now being accommodated in Aceh along with other refugees. (WDY)
