Kupang (Antara Bali) - The Meteorology and Geophysics Station of East Nusa Tenggara reported on Monday that the tropical Cyclone Rusty had reached the province and triggered strong wind in the region.
The Cyclone Rusty was located on 17.5 degree of Southern Latitude and 118.3 degree of Western Longitude or 870km southwest of Sabu Island.
"The cyclone triggered strong wind at 25-40 km per hour velocity and rain potential for the next three days," The Head of Observation and Information of Meteorology and Geophysics Station Class II El Tari Kupang, Syaiful Hadi said here Monday.
The strong wind will generate high sea wave in southern water of East Nusa Tenggara to reach five until six meter high.
The cyclone was heading to east and southeast of the region, sheering away from Indonesia, at two kilometer per hour.
Thus, low or medium intensity rain might pour the region.
The cyclone's effect would be greatly felt in Kupang, West Flores and Sumba Island, Hadi said.
Therefore, the Meteorology and Geophysics Station urged the fishermen and sailing enterprises to take notice and be aware of the cyclone to prevent accident. (*/T007)
