Tabanan (Antara Bali) - Protected forest at Bedugul slope in Tabanan District province was found damaged after several people of environmental group cleared a plot of land to establish a camping ground.
"I estimated that deforestation at the protected forest reached 200 square meters which occurred at the Bedugul Beratan lakeside," Head of Baturiti Sub-district, Putu Adi Supraja said here on Tuesday.
According to him, the deforestation is actually aimed at preparing a two-day camping activities committed by an environmental group.
Supraja said that the environmental group cleared all wild plantations and let big threes remained.
So far, two tents were still installed in the area including a makeshift-made toilet from bamboo mats.
"Previously the location looked green and located near a villa. We are disappointed as the nature loving people cleared the land without our permit," said Supraja. (*/DWA)
