Yogyakarta To Host APCYS 2013 Meeting

Palangka Raya (Antara Bali) - The province of Yogyakarya will host the second Asia-Pacific Conference of Young Scientists (APCYS) in 2013.

President of APCYS, Monica Raharti, said here on Friday, Yogyakarta has long indicated interest in hosting the  event. "As a city of education as it is often called,  Yogyakarta has indicated interest in hosting the event. Yogyakarta has turned out the largest number of scientific products," Monica said.

The first APCYS was held in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan participated in by 12 countries -- Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Guam, Brunei Darussalam and Taipei.

APCYS is an annual scientific conference of secondary students of Asia Pacific as a forum to develop climate of scientific studies among the younger generation.

"We are pleased that the APCYS in Palangka Raya has been held in cooperation with the provincial administration and received appreciation from the International Committee," she said.

Gold medal winner in mathematics and as the best male researcher from Association of Asia Pacifik Physical Societies (AAPPS) was Hung Chi Sun of Taipei, Steven Sinatra of Indonesia won silver, Nasapat Khumtong of Thailand won silver  and  Nicest Poster Award.

In Life Science, Patanarapee WarasiWchai, Kulissara Palanuphap, Panisara Tantikitti of Thailand won silver with Darius Christian Ohee of Indonesia winning  Special Award Best Prospect.

As for Pratical Application, Eunsol Cho, Ji Sun Lee, Yeongseong Yoon of South  Korea won  Special Award from the Department of Education of Central Kalimantan, Gusti Ayu Indah Lestari of Indonesia) won silver, Muhamad Hakim Razman  and  Muhamad Naufal Mohd Zani of  Malaysia won bronze  and Seah Ying Hang of  Singapore won gold.

In Environmental Science, silver medal was won by  Hao Yun-Hsu of  Taipei, Veronica Swasti Paramitha Putri (Indonesia),  and  Nur Diyana Johan, Nazratul Uyun Saedun, Sayang Evana Zainuddin of Malaysia, PhaShamon Kongkhambut  of Thailand with bronze won by  Yonatan Esli Alexander Tidja of Indonesia)  and  Hedyla Zhenyi-Yap of Singapore.

Melody Grace Natalie of Indonesia won gold and The Best Female Researcher  from AAPPS and Nicest Poster Award. Wong Wen Jun Lawrence, Chua Rui Kang Ryan, Ng Jun How Melvin of Singapore won gold and  Nurul Amira Binti Mohd Saleh of Malaysia won bronze .

In Physics Heru Pralambang Indra Irawan of Indonesia won bronze, Peng Nam, Sean Ng of Singapore won silver  and  KriKanon SiroraKanakul of Thailand won gold.

Chen-Chieh Ping and Hao-Wen Dong of Taipei won gold and Special Award from Parliament of Central Kalimantan. In Computer Science, Lam Yun Shao Ranald of Singapore and Abduljabbar Kariya of Thailand won silver.(*/T007)
