Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani has assured that extra funds needed to organize Asian Games 2018 will come from the budget section of the general state treasurer (BA BUN) in the 2017 state budget.
"At a discussion held yesterday, we have agreed that part of the funds will be taken from BA BUN, and the fund will later be allocated to the Indonesian Organizing Committee for Asian Games (INASGIG)," she stated at the parliament building here on Thursday.
She expressed hope that part of the fund, amounting to Rp1.8 trillion, could be disbursed soon to pay contractors as commitment fees.
"We assure that Rp500 billion of the fund could be disbursed soon to meet all the existing needs, and the remaining Rp1.1 trillion could be disbursed before the end of this year," she noted.
The other extra fund will be obtained from budget allocations in the revised 2017 state budget. However, there has been no agreement as the government has not discussed it with the House of Representatives (DPR), she remarked.
Based on the budget ceiling in 2018, the fund allocated for the organization of the Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang will amount to Rp2.2 trillion, she noted.
"The budget allocations in 2018 will reach Rp2.2 trillion. We have no problem with the fund because the finance ministry has allocated it," she asserted.
She assured that the extra budget allocations for the Asian Games have been adjusted to the request from the events organizing committee.(*)
