Denpasar
(Antara Bali) - The director of Garuda Indonesia`s Cargo Division, Sigit
Muhartono said the Indonesian flag carrier has officially opened a new
flight route from Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara to Denpasar, Bali.
The move is a strategic step in expanding the domestic aviation
market, especially in the eastern part of Indonesia, Sigit said.
"In addition to the company`s business development, the opening of
the new route is part of Garuda Indonesia`s commitment to supporting
government programs for improving connectivity, especially in promoting
national tourism," Sigit said in Maumere on Thursday.
He said the opening of the new route is an effort to improve
connectivity among regions in the country, while strengthening the
network in the domestic market, especially in the eastern region.
Sigit also explained that Garuda Indonesia`s Maumere-Denpasar round
trips will be available four times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday,
Friday and Sunday, and use an ATR 72-600, which accommodates 70
passengers in economy seats.
"This service is expected to increase the flow of tourists and businesses between the two cities," Sigit added.
Meanwhile, Maumere district head Yoseph Ansar Rera welcomed the opening of the new route.
The flight is expected to improve connectivity between Maumere and Denpasar and other cities throughout Indonesia.
"With the opening of this route, it will be easier for people in
other cities to make business trips or tours to Maumere and the
surrounding regions," he said. (WDY)
