This is the first meeting held in the framework of the Joint Working Group on narcotic drugs control as the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation between BNN and NCB signed in 2013.
BNN and NCB used the meeting to exchange information on current tendency and modus operandi of international narcotic drugs trafficking and distribution.
The Indonesian delegation in the meeting explained the current condition faced by the country with regard to the issue.
They said due to its vast territory Indonesia had difficulties monitoring drugs trafficking as "narcotic smuggling has not only been done through land but also by sea and air," the chief of the Indonesia delegation, Numaik, said.
On the occasion, Indias chief delegate, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, explained the problems faced by India.
He said narcotic drugs trafficking was an international problem and therefore, cooperation such as through the Indonesia-India working group was a positive step.
BNN and NCB agreed exchange of information between the two countries as well as best practice were needed.
The two agencies at the end of the meeting had determined a focus to ease coordination between them.(WDY)
