Papua`s Persipura Jayapura soccer club defeated South Sulawesi`s squad,
PSM Makassar 1-0 in Group B of the General Sudirman Cup 2015 soccer
tournament here on Monday night.
Persipura`s striker Lancine Kone scored the single goal with a
header in the 46th minute which changed the position to be 1-0.
By the time referee Al Katiri blew the long whistle, the score was still 1-0.
On Saturday (Nov 14) the host Bali United of Bali Province
successfully crushed the Papua`s Persipura Jayapura 5-2 in a penalty
shootout.
At the first half, each team launched attack on its opponent`s defense, but no goal was created in a 45-minute halftime.
In the second half, Bali United`s player Lerby scored a goal in the 65th minute.
However, Persipura`s player Ian Louis Kabes then netted a goal in
the 91st minute, but by the time referee Nusur Fadilah blew the long
whistle, the score was still tied 1-1.
During the penalty shootout, four kickers of Bali United i.e.
Lerby, Fadil Sausu, I Made Wirahadi and Loudry successfully did their
job and scored the winning goals for his team.
Meanwhile, only Lukas Mandowen of Papua, who scored a goal in the penalty shootout.
As many as 15 soccer clubs are participating in this soccer event
that started on November 10. The tournament was initiated by the
Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander.
The soccer tournament is being organized to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Indonesian military (TNI).
The General Sudirman tournament qualifiers that started on November
12 will continue till November 22, while the semifinal will be held in
each of the semifinalist`s home (home and away format) from January 9 to
17, 2016 and the final round will take place at the Bung Karno Stadium
in Jakarta on January 24, 2016. (WDY)
