Jakarta (Antara Bali) -- The U. S. Embassy in Jakarta teamed up with Microsoft Indonesia last Friday to organize "We Speak Code," a fun, user-friendly workshop on coding, for more than 50 young women and community leaders.

Participants included alumni of exchange programs funded by the U. S. government and accomplished community leaders from the publishing, NGO, and business worlds.

They were brought together at the home of Deputy Chief of Mission Kristen Bauer for an introduction to this now essential STEM-related skill, the U. S. Embassy noted on its official website on Monday.

This public-private venture helped to boost collaborative partnerships in technology, and also strengthened people-to-people ties among activists and entrepreneurs, particularly among women who are traditionally underrepresented in Indonesia's technology sector. (WDY)
