Jakarta (Antara Bali) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said the 1945 Constitution gives the Indonesian nation a mandate that they must not only struggle for national interest but also contribute to global interest and goodness.
"As we all know that under the mandate of the 1945 Constitution, besides we must struggle for national interest which is above all else, we must also contribute to global interest and goodness," the President said aboard a presidential plane which brought him home from a working visit to Sweden and the US on Friday.
In recent times, Indonesia not only followed what had been formulated in the UN but also became part of the process to formulate future global cooperation, he said.
The President was referring to the role played by Indonesia in formulating post-2015 development agenda of which he, along with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf are co-chairs.
"From the multilateral standpoint... we have taken an active part in building more just and effective global cooperation in the future," he said. (*/M038)
