Santiago (Antara Bali) - Workers at Chilean state-owned mining company Codelco, the world's largest copper producer, on Friday rejected the executive management's proposals and called for a 24-hour strike in the next 30 days.
"There's no turning back on the strike," said Raimundo Espinosa, president of the Federation of Copper Workers (FTC).
Workers have a series of complaints, ranging from the management's administrative errors to the privatization of the employees' health care system and the outsourcing of labor. They also complain that they were allowed zero input in the company headquarters' restructuring plans. (Xinhua/OANA)
