Shanghai (Antara Bali) - Indonesian and Chinese national private companies have opened a regular charter flight service between the two countries to increase visits by tourists from both countries.
Representatives of Indonesian PT QATA Restu Dewata and Chinese Shanghai Qiansheng International Travel Service Co. Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding for the service here on Friday witnessed by the director of Indonesian promotion of the ministry of tourism and creative economy, Esthi Reko Astuti.
Astuti said she believed the opening of the charter flight service would increase the number of tourist visits from the two countries.
"China is a potential market and so worth serious development. Only a few of around 80 million of its people touring abroad so far have visited Indonesia," she said.
In view of that she thought the charter flight service would be one of the alternatives besides the regular flight service so far to increase the number of visitors from that country.
Shanghai Qiangsheng International Travel Service Co. Ltd. general manager Tang Shi Guo meanwhile said on the occasion that Indonesia is one of the increasingly attractive destinations for the Chinese tourists.
PT Restu Dewata director K Lestarini Pribadi said the charter flight service would serve flights from five cities in China namely Chengdu, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Nanjing to Manado and Bali.(IGT)
