Denpasar (Antara Bali) - Suspicion of terrorist movement has put the Bali regional police on standby ahead of the tenth commemoration of the Bali bombings, which will be held at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) in Jimbaran, Bali.
"We need to understand the indication of a terror threat. Therefore, despite having adequate security forces in our environment, we are still gathering intelligence to secure the venue, before and after the event," Bali's Chief of Police, Inspector General Budi Gunawan said here on Wednesday.
The statement was delivered during a briefing with the Bali police force at the Mobile Brigade Command Headquarters in Tohpati, Denpasar.
"We will tighten security around the venue and keep track of all the people entering the venue," Gunawan said, adding that the tenth commemoration of Bali bombing I will be attended by 3,000 people, including families of the victims, the Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard, former Prime Minister of Australia and some representatives of the Australian government.
According to Gunawan, Bali police officers are currently in a state of high alert. As a precaution, he has ordered all officers, across ranks, to recognize all of members of the police force.(IGT)
