Sukabumi (Antara Bali) - The fires that razed the forest area at Mount Walat, Karang Tengah village, Cibadak, West Java, have until Sunday covered 10 hectares, a regional government official said.
"We have recorded that about 10 hectares of forest land have been gutted by fires at the mountain, and the fires are still escalating until now," Head of Logistics and Emergency Affairs of Sukabumi Usman Susilo said here on Sunday.
The burnt forest areas are educational forest areas which are under the management of the Bogor-based Institute of Agriculture (IPB).
In the areas there are still a lot of fire spots where about 7 to 10 fire spots could not be put out yet. One fire spot is still in huge flame, he said.(IGT/T007)
