"The package of firearms was sent in an unraveled form. The customs office passed on (the package) to the Bali Provincial Police (for an investigation) yesterday. We are awaiting the results of the laboratory test. We have also checked the mobile phone and social media accounts of its recipient and investigated witnesses in the area where the recipient lives," Chief of the Public Relations Service of the Bali Provincial Police, Hengky Widjaja, said on Tuesday.
"The recipient of the package is yet to be named a suspect because we are still awaiting the laboratory test results," he said.
He said the package was checked using an X-Ray, following which the customs officers became suspicious of its contents and decided to check it manually.
During the check, they found an address with the number RQ858571105CN attached to a brown envelope with the name of the recipient given as Agung Gde Soerya.
The recipient of the package lives on Nangka Utara Street, Tonja, North Denpasar.
"The motive behind the recipient ordering firearms is that he is interested in its golden color to decorate his room," he said.
The person who delivered the package containing one set of a suspected airsoft gun and five rounds of suspected ammunition lives at 1208 Baise Road, Wish Storehouse, Xuhui District, Shanghai, China, 200237.
The recipient has been charged with violating article 1 paragraph (1) of Law No. 12/Emergency/1951.
