Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) supported the awakening of Indonesian exports as reflected in the increase in the transaction values of the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2016.
"This is a good opportunity to make a turning point in our exports. So far our exports continue to drop. We are grateful as the TEI 2016 could become a momentum," Kadin Chairman for export development, Handito Joewono said here on Sunday.
Up to Sunday (Oct 16), the value of trade sanctions concluded in the TEI 2016 has reached US$974.76 million, or Rp12.7 trillion, up 7.2 percent form last year's TEI transaction value of US$909 million.
Handito said the momentum needs to be maintained by all sides, namely businesses and the government.
In this case, Kadin will apply five export development strategies as contained in the export development road map to increase export by 500 percent in the coming 10 to 15 years to come.
The first strategy is the increase in the number of new exporters from large, medium and small scale companies. "Small business players should not be forgotten. Many of them already have the export potential but they have not yet carried out exports," Handito said.
Diversification of export products is the second strategy. Handito sees that fisheries and maritime sector has the potential in this case.
He said that the third strategy is to expand export markets by finding new markets and carrying out deep penetration to the market.
"Penetration means that we should deepen our market in export destinations such as increasing the market in the regions of the export destination countries. We can utilize the e-commerce in this case," he said.
The other strategy is to increase the average price of the export products by increasing the products' added values through downstream sector development, the Kadin official said.
The fifth strategy, he said, is increasing the export eco-system where all exporters should be encouraged to have export mind-set.
"Thus, we hope Indonesia will become as a big exporting country," Handito added. (WDY)
