Jakarta (Antara Bali) - The Indonesian Presidents special envoy for the Middle East and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Alwi Shihab is paying a four-day working visit in the Middle East to forge relations with the region.
While in Saudi Arabia, Shihab was greeted by King Salman bin Abdul Azis Al Saud at Hotel Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, he said in a statement released Saturday.
Shihab who is former coordinating minister for peoples welfare in the United Indonesia cabinet met the Saudi king to convey President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)s message as well as to forge relations between the two countries.
On Thursday (February 18), Shihab paid a working visit to Amman, Jordan, where he was greeted by chief of the kingdoms court Fayez Tarawneh who represented King Abdullah II.
During the meeting, Shihab presented a letter from President Joko Widodo to King Abdullah II. The letter among other things contains an invitation to the Jordanian king to attend the OIC Extraordinary Summit which will be held in Jakarta from March 6 to 7 to discuss the issues of Palestine and Jerusalem.
Tarawneh touched on the strong relations between Jordan and Indonesia and the strong will of Jordan under the leadership of King Abdullah to enhance relations in the interests of the two nations. (WDY)
