Jakarta (Antara Bali) - An Indonesian legislator urged the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) to enhance their capabilities and improve the quality of their products to compete well as the ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) takes root.
"The state of readiness of the UMKM entrepreneurs is very important, so that Indonesian products do not face problems when the ASEAN economic integration happens," Ahmad Sahroni, a legislator from the House of Representatives' (DPR's) commission XI said in a press statement here on Monday.
At a gathering in North Jakarta where around 150 UMKM entrepreneurs were present, entrepreneurs asked Sahroni about the requirements for lending (by the bank).
On the occasion, Sahroni urged the government to continue to ease requirements that the UMKM entrepreneurs must fulfill to avail of People's Business Credit (KUR) in an effort to develop their capabilities and compete within the framework of MEAs. (WDY)
