Malang, E Java (Antara Bali) - The government is encouraging the private sector to take active part in conducting researches in various fields, an official said.
"We have been making constant efforts to raise research fund from cooperation between the government and the private sector. Research and development fund from the government now reaches 74 percent (of the overall fund), while the private sector contributes 26 percent to it," Director General of Research and Development at the Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry Dr. Muhammad Dimyati said here on Saturday.
The low research fund requires the government to encourage the private sector to contribute to the development of science and technology in the country by conducting researches, he said.
He said the government's fund allocation for researches now represents 74 percent of the overall research fund, compared to 80 percent in many other countries including contributions from the private sector.
"Therefore, we have taken a step to raise the ratio of research fund from the private sector by establishing cooperation with private firms to set aside part of their CSR (corporate social responsibility) fund for research activities," he said. (WDY)
