Samarinda, E Kalimantan (Antara Bali) - State-owned oil company Pertamina EP Asset 5 Field Sangatta, in the district of Kutai Timur, East Kalimantan, produced 1,211 barrels of crude oil per day (BOPD)in the first half of the year, overshooting its target by 12 percent.
Abdul Muhar, the field manager of the Sangatta unit of the state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina said the production target set for the unit was 1,077 barrels per day.
"The production figure is relatively small compared to the production of other oil companies in the province but it is stable," Abdul Muhar said here when breaking fast with district officials in Sangatta on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, chief representative of the upstream oil and gas regulator (SKK Migas) for Kalimantan and Sulawesi Nazvar Nazar said oil and gas mining sector is still one of the economic backbones in the regions, therefore, the regional administrations are expected to support by facilitating the process of licensing and mining operations.
"We need support from the district authorities in licensing process, opening new jobs and social affairs," Nazvar said.
He said there are many problems faced by mining companies in the regions mainly land dispute delaying mining operation and production. (WDY)
