Jakarta (Antara Bali) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla said here on Tuesday that Indonesia will be sending humanitarian aid to Yemen if conditions allow.
"Yemen has informed us about its condition, which is a great concern; so they are certainly hoping that Indonesia and its government can help them," he said at his office.
He noted that distance is a problem, as Yemen is located far away from Indonesia. "We will certainly consider it (sending aid), but we also know that Yemen is located far away and reaching aid there is not an easy task," he pointed out.
Kalla, however, added that he hoped there will be a way out to deliver aid to Yemen.
Meanwhile, Yemen's ad interim charge d'affaires Ahmed Sayyad met with Vice President Jusuf Kalla in the afternoon.
During the meeting, he conveyed that Yemen was in need of humanitarian aid. "Because of the current political situation and humanitarian crisis, Yemen is badly in need of humanitarian aid, including medical assistance," he stressed. (WDY)
